The banknote: an everyday object, an extraordinary raw material.

In partnership with the Banque de France. The Banque de France is a reference in the field of banknote printing. Its industrial facilities enable it to print up to 3 billion banknotes a year to the highest technical, quality and traceability standards. At every stage of production, the banknotes undergo extremely strict checks to guarantee their quality. The slightest imperfection is systematically and automatically crushed. The shredded notes are then recorded and carefully weighed before being sent to the Maximum Paris workshops in Ivry-sur-Seine, where they are recycled.

A concentration of technique on a few square centimetres of paper. The Banque de France produces banknotes with EverFit® technology. This proven technology consists of protecting all the banknote's graphic elements and security features by adding protective films. This innovation considerably increases the life of banknotes by making them more resistant to abrasion and soiling. This protective film plays an essential role in the production of the Billex range.

From banknote to object. Each piece of EverFit® banknote contains just the right amount of material to transform it into furniture: a cotton substrate and two layers of heat-sensitive coating. Accumulated, heated and then highly compressed, the EverFit® shreds form a rigid, smooth and surprisingly resistant material: Billex.
