Jianhui respects its artisans and pays them more than double the usual salary for the same type of job. He is proud of the role he plays in establishing an ethical supply chain. Jianhui London
Jianhui was born in a poor village in rural China. His name, chosen by his mother, means "to build a splendid life". His creative journey began when his parents were not always able to pay public school fees. Outside school, he spent his time in the mountains around his village, fascinated by their colours and abundant natural variety. When he was finally able to attend school regularly, he excelled both academically and creatively, which led him to study ceramics in the city and then to complete an MBA in the UK. But his desire to create was not stifled. He began creating jewellery from objects he found or bought and sold at Portobello market in West London. This was the beginning of his real passion for reusing materials.
